STAMFORD COMMUNITY ORCHARD GROUP

The National Lottery have awarded us funding to help some local community groups and parish councils within 20 miles of Stamford to set up small community orchards on public land. We are also helping them to manage and celebrate their own community orchards.

 

So we are working with six local community groups.

 

• Baston Residents Association

• Ketton Parish Council

• Ketton Tree Group

• Ridlington Church

• Preston Green Spaces

• Easton on the Hill Horticultural and Craft Society

 

• Bringing lots of people together in a practical and productive way

• Improving public open spaces for people and wildlife

• Introducing people to new skills and interests

• Creating more opportunities for making local healthy food and drink

 

Several members of each community attended a workshop. They have also had a day's training and the use of our apple pressing equipment. They will also have support to help promote and celebrate all that is good about apples and orchards – for food, drink, wildlife and people, with a display of the results  at our SCOG Apple Day in October 2019.
